“Parasaurolophus By the River.”
Mixed media, 2023. I think this diorama is about 3”x4”. Note the land croc on the opposite bank.
The river is just paint and a coat of PVA glossy glue.

A pair of Parasaurolophus drink from a river, while in the background a land croc stalks the opposite bank.

Better shot of the land croc.

“Deinonychus In the Forest.”
Tracing paper, cardstock, glue, marker, pen, pencil, metal wire, 2023. 8”x5”x5”.
This is a paper diorama, which is a Japanese art form from what I hear. In that spirit, I tried to be very precise with everything I did on this, and I was really happy with it. The tracing paper panel on top is all hand-decorated, and it lets light shine through and illuminate the forest. Flying alongside the Deinonychus are three birds or bird-like dinosaurs. I wasn’t specific about which ones, I just based them off the multitude of little flying and gliding dinosaurs from the Jurassic and Cretaceous, and gave them colors I liked—one dull, one yellow, and one very colorful.

Overhead view of detail on tracing paper panel.
Detail of Deinonychus and gliding rainbow-colored dinosaur.
Detail of landing bird.
Detail of swooping yellow bird.
Viewed directly from the front, the Deinonychus' nose is hidden behind a tree. This wasn't intentional!
