The PaleoPsalter is sort of an art project.

It currently exists as a collection of stories and poems that I wrote through with no plan about a year ago. Really what they are, is a meditation on paleontology, on natural history, and on how we relate to those things both as children and adults. Faith plays an important role (and a surprising one if you don’t know me). So does a certain yearning for what is lost.

The future of the PaleoPsalter:

I’ve gone back and forth in my head about what format this project should ultimately take—a book? An app? I have a certain loving nostalgia for some of the old point-and-click obscurities of my childhood, and feel this format might be ideal for balancing the text-based aspects of this project with parts that might best be a little interactive or experiential.

However, that does expand the scope of the project beyond just writing, editing and illustrating. It might be biting off more than I can chew just yet. So, for now, I’m backburnering this project while I get on my feet with another project, the Hyena Queen—check it out here if you’re curious.
